La comprensión lectora. Un estudio puntual en la educación superior del Ecuador

Objective: this research characterizes important aspects of reading comprehension through the Cloze test, whose purpose is to determine the probability of success in academic performance based on the levels of comprehension achieved. Method: this is a comparative study between students from a public and a private university who are beginning their university career. It is a quantitative, descriptive and explanatory investigation of a cross-sectional nature, with non-probabilistic, non-experimental sampling. Linear regression and correlation analysis was used, as well as a decision tree based on the variables considered relevant. Results: the results show that high levels of reading comprehension ensure a high probability of success in academic performance. Conclusion: It is concluded that it is important to ensure a good reading comprehension in students as a determining factor to achieve optimal results in the subjects studied.
