EL CÍRCULO DE INTERÉS COMO MÉTODO EFECTIVO PARA LA SALUD BUCAL DE LOS ESCOLARES

El artículo describe y resume los resultados de una investigación de intervención comunitaria realizada en la Escuela Primaria Carlos Cuquejo, en la localidad de Vázquez, desde octubre de 2012 a mayo de 2014, mediante el círculo de interés “Educación para la salud bucal”, con una muestra de 98 escolares; cuyo objetivo fue desarrollar la educación para la salud bucal. Tuvo en cuenta el nivel de conocimientos, la higiene, el estado de salud bucal, así como la ingestión o no, de una dieta cariogénica. Se refiere, además a la metodología que contempló encuestas, controles de placa bacteriana, historias clínicas y registros diarios de dieta de los niños. Las temáticas de educación para la salud fueron desarrolladas mediante murales, mensajes para la salud bucal, charlas demostrativas, juegos didácticos, como “Mi boquita sana”; con canciones, poesías, obras de teatro, encuentros de conocimientos, mesa cubana de frutas y vegetales, y selección de escolares con mejor higiene bucal. Al evaluar los resultados iniciales y finales se comprobó la elevación del nivel de conocimientos, de la higiene, el estado de salud bucal y la calidad de la dieta. El círculo de interés promovió la educación para la salud bucal y la disminución de los niños enfermos, lo que constituyó un logro significativo. ABSTRACT A community intervention study was carried out in Carlos Cuquejo Primary School in Vázquez's town, from October 2012 to May 2014, through the vocational study group "Education for oral health", with a scientific sample of 98 children. The objective was to develop the education for the oral health. It was analized the level of knowledge, the hygiene, the state of oral health, as well as the ingestion or not of a cariogenic diet. The methodology included surveys, bacterial dental plaque controls, clinical charts and daily registrations of the children's diet. The thematic of education for health were developed by means bulletin boards, messages for the oral health, demonstrative talks, didactic games, as "My healthy mouth"; with songs, poetries, plays, knowledge competitions, Cuban tables of fruits and vegetables, and selection of the students with better oral hygiene. With the evaluation of the initial and final results it was proven the elevation of the level of knowledge of the hygiene, the state of oral health and the quality of the diet. The vocational study group promoted the education for the oral health and the decrease of the sick children, what was a significant achievement.
