The fundamentals of politics. A counterpoint Between Enrique Dussel and Ernesto Laclau

<div style="text-align: justify;"><p>This paper compares the central elements in the political theories of Enrique Dussel and Ernesto Laclau. Laclau argues for a postfundacionalist thought that part of the poststructuralist critiques of essentialism to create his political theory. In contrast, Dussel proposes a perspective that although adopts the Marxist critique dogmatism, seeks to respond to the contemporary moment of liberation movements, which happens to think the fundamentals of the struggle for hegemony. In the first part the positions of both authors are contrasted in the debate on the fundamentals, particularly the Lalaus social political ontology and the Dussel´s metaphysics. In the second part some of the consequences that these positions entail in relation to the concepts of hegemony, the people and the “ought” of political struggles are identified.</p></div>
