Description
Summary:The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of an aerobic physical exercise program without dietary intervention prescribed with blood lactate levels on body composition and lipid profile of overweight adolescents. A randomized study consisting of pre- and post-treatment tests was conducted on overweight adolescents who were randomly divided into an experimental group submitted to an aerobic exercise program and a control group. The exercise program lasted 12 weeks. After the intervention, a reduction in triceps skinfold thickness, percent body fat and fat mass and an increase in fat-free mass and lipid profile (HDL-c) were observed in the experimental group (p<0.05). These findings indicate a possible reduction in the risk of cardiovascular diseases in overweight adolescents who regularly exercise.
