Early recovery from disaster: the Pakistan earthquake

In October 2005, Pakistan suffered a massive earthquakethat left an unprecedented humanitarian need. Although abrutal Himalayan winter was only six weeks away there wasno second wave of deaths. Civil-military cooperation and theCluster Approach have had significant success.
