Description
Summary:This article identifies some of the social and legal consequences associated with the implementation of austerity measures, paying particular attention to changes in the sphere of employment. Beginning with a general discussion of the notion of the austerity society, it then develops a critical analysis which focuses on issues of social fear and power. Within the framework of this analysis, it is suggested that the concept of the right to work in a “state of exception” illustrates the non‑democratic results of the application of austerity measures.
