Description
Summary:Despite the development achieved in the country in the field of health and medical education, the surgical residency program has remained static for nearly three decades. In particular, surgical residents must acquire skills for endoscopic surgery during their specialized training. In light of this, the competency-based training, which is the result of the analysis and deductions emanating from scholars at the national and international level, is discussed. It is concluded that the competency-based approach to training in endoscopic surgery is necessary since it includes various components that correspond with the desired characteristics of the general surgeon performing this type of procedure.
