Description
Summary:The aim of the present study was to use gas chromatography analysis to deter-mine the residual levels of the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid innaranjilla (Solanum quitoense). samples of this fruit were taken from three pop-ular markets located in central, south and north of Quito city. for the analysisand quantification of this pesticide a continuous extraction method was, acidhydrolysis and esterification converting the 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acidto the derivative 2,4-dichlorophenoxy methyl ester, which was examined bygas chromatography with Electron capture detector (Ecd). the results showedthat 100% of the samples were contaminated with the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid, with a much higher residual level permitted byfood and agriculture organization of the united nations (fao).
