Summary: | Using items of the early Renaissance, the manoir de La Courtinière developed from a first project of the middle of the 16th century. During construction, around 1560, a larger project appeared. Due to the modification of the pavilion already built, the construction of an intricated staircase became possible. The most impressive change was produced by the new decoration of the façades, based on manneristic themes which multiply quotations of refined architecture and orders. It is up to initiated visitors to understand the transgressions and to observe the lesson in perspective given by the façades on the courtyard. |
