The Palm-leaf manuscripts: Non-material cultural heritage of Khmer at An Giang province

Palm-leaf manuscripts of Khmer is one of the precious documents of Khmer Theravada Buddhism. It is considered evidence mounts that stage of the formation and development of the Buddhism satras. Khmer’s palm-leaf manuscripts are part of the palm-leaf manuscripts systems in Southeast Asia and South Asia. In this research, we used qualitative research methods to the field research techniques and study documents. Through the research progress, we find out the origin, fabricating palm-leaf manuscripts at An Giang province. At the same time, the research also proposed some recommendations and solutions to conservation and development of the Khmer’s palm-leaf manuscripts at An Giang province. Thereby, we have a better overview of the significance of the palm-leaf manuscripts and fabricating. Simultaneously, we can recognize the importance of palm-leaf manuscripts in the life of the Khmer Theravada Buddhists’s life, and these values need to be conserved and developed.
