Such has been the role of iconography at the service of mythology… The inter-arts, which assert themselves in the field of comparative studies as an essential vehicle for a permanent expansion and ‘modernisation’ of myth, tend to favour, as non-literary means of expression, the interactive games, practising a, sometimes, brutal syncretism, and amalgamating myhthical heterogeneous substrata.
