碩士 === 淡江大學 === 管理科學研究所 === 68 === 　　In order to develop our national ecomomy, machine tool industry has been assigned as the strategic industry this country However, important as it is, we have so far no complete and systematic research done on the present situation as well as the future prospect of its production and sale. not to mention any statistical data collected to serve as guiding lines for the manufacturers and our government in operating and developing its production and exportation. 　　In order to survey the potentiality of the production and sale of machine tool industry of our country, the author chooses 75 out of large or average companies as samples to carry out its comprehensive and penetrating investigation, arriving at the following results: 　　1. A detailed description of the present conditions, the circumstances, and the difficulties in management of machine tool industry in this nation, which will enable us to grasp at the actual situation easily. 　　2. A statistical method is applied to predict the demand of our domestic market in future five years, together with a tentative formula for it being set up. 　　3. A careful examination of the potentiality of each company in this field, suggesting the future prospect and pointing out the directions still to be developed. 　　After studying the state of art of the machine tool industry some suggestions are proposed to the government & related companies. It is hoped that the decision maker may coordinate and help the companies to complete the quick automation so as to upgrade the industry and establish a sound foundation for our mechanical and national defensive industry, in addition to consolidating our competitive position in the international market.
