We can feel that the input capability to a good graphical environment is very important. Traditional graphics systems are usually with good output capability but the input capability is less satisfactory. Traditional logical Input devices only support limited graphical feedback capability, and do not fit well into current multi-window environment.Another drawback is that the mapping between logical input device and physical input device is fixed.In order to fit well into current graphical environment, a new input handling method is needed. HAGI is an object-oriented graphics system. Beside it's good output capability,there is a subsystem responsible for graphic input handling. The subsystem provides a structured input method which is flexible and device-independent. Programmers using the subsystem do not have to write switch-case statements to handl input but just like using input object. It supports higher level input mechanism and good modeling power for human-machine interaction. We hope that we can do a better job than most current systems have in handling graphic input.
