To get a reasonable and safe design, the structural engineer should make more efforts and take more time to analyze the irregular buildings than with regular ones. Unfortunally, the fact in Taiwan is that a designer seldom analyze the structure of buildings with the correct procedure, because they do not have enough money, time and design experiences.It will cause the buildings unsafe.In this paper, we discuss the structure analysis and member design with a careful and complete procedure used in structure engineering.It is hoped that the conclusion would be helpful to the practiced enigeening.There are three main viewpoints discussed in this paper :1. To get reasonable modelling methods and more accurate results by comparing different models for structures and fundamental simulation.2. To show how we design member with ductility criteria correctly in the earthquake in Taiwan by way of illustration.3.
