A project leader may manage one or many projects.A large project funding institute may have thousands of projects to be managedat the same time. It is a quite complicated and messy job to even manage aproject. In order to attack the problems mentioned above, we are developing a projectmanaging environment under UNIX system, which is also named PM-KGB system. Itprovides a team development environment which is easy for modules' integration,coordinations and communications between members. Security is posed on thedistributed environment, so that each group member can only access thoseprograms authorized. Since PM-KGB keeps the complete history records of theproject development process, hence the group leader can retrieve any version ofparticular time of programs at any time. Through system, the group leader cancheck the progressing statistical graphs of each member, to make sure thatproject is going smoothly. This paper will focus on the project progress control and managementsubsystem of PM-KGB. We shall give a detailed discussion in recording thehistory of the progress of source codes and restoring particular version ofsource codes. With PM-KGB system, a project leader can get the various reportsregarding members' developing productivity and quality automatically. Thisreport contains the progressing of source codes. When the project have beendeveloped for a long period of time, the log generated by PM-KGB will looks likea work diary with many volumes. The leader can ask the system to restore anyparticular times' source code and complete report of every version if necessary.
