Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 機械工程研究所 === 88 === ABSTRACT During resent years, the requirement of electricity is increasing rapidly. Air conditioning takes a great proportion of the new electricity requirement owing to the global-warming effect. In the mean time, due to environmental consideration, it gets harder than ever to build power plants. It is therefore helpful to manage the consumption of electricity by applying ice storage air conditioning in order to balance between peak load and low load. The goals of this study are proving the feasibility of newly developed vacuum-type ice making technique used for ice storage air conditioning as well as providing knowledge for designing a prototype. An experimental ice storage tank is built for measurement of water evaporation rate in vacuum, water cooling rate, and ice making rate. They are compared with the results of theoretical analysis and found to have good agreement that the bottleneck of cooling rate is the capacity of the refrigeration unit. The experimental results are used to estimate the initial investment and running costs of a real system. By comparing the costs of a vacuum ice storage system and a commonly used ice storage system, we conclude that a vacuum ice storage system can save as much as 3.19 times of costs than any other ice storage system saves. Topics of further research in realizing a prototype are mentioned in this paper.
