Therefore, it is of great importance that interface conceptual model defined by the designers be compatible with the mental model of the users. The objective of this research is to develop a substantiated and structured methodology for interface prototype analysis and configuration. In the preliminary task analysis phase, in addition to the concept of concurrent engineering, layout technique is also applied to generate a 5-phase process. Then software interface prototype analysis and configuration can be performed through the analysis based on task correlation. Concurrent engineering is introduced to reduce redesign cycle time and changes that may be required in the future; layout is initiated to provide extensive correlation characteristic analysis of task items, which will serve as the basis for layout of interface prototype task items. The interface prototype generated from this methodology not only has its framework based on theories, it also takes in comments of both designers and users in the preliminary analysis phase. Therefore, it is believed that this prototype better achieves the objective and standard of user-friendly.
