Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 化學工程學研究所 === 90 === In this study, we investigate theoretically the electrophoretic behavior of spherical droplets in a concentrated dispersion. In order to solve three coupled and non-linear equations for velocity profile, electric field and concentration, we use some assumption to linearize our equations. We apply pseudo-spectral method to analyze the numerical solution. This result can applicable for arbitrary double layer thickness, arbitrary surface potential, and weak applied electric field. Also the double layer polarization and overlapping are taken into account. We find that the polarization effect will increase as the double layer thickness decrease, and there will be a maximum electrophoretic mobility when the double layer thickness is in a medium range. Moreover, we can determine the droplet characteristic by choosing the inner viscosity of droplet. And we find that the electrophoretic mobility of bubble is about three times higher than rigid sphere. Besides, boundary effect will decrease the mobility more when the droplet volume fraction increases.
