Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 化學工程學系 === 90 === Owing to the unique structural order, liquid crystals have good molecular shape recognition capability when they are used as the stationary phase in chromatography. In this study, side chain liquid crystal polymers were fixed on silica surface by crosslinking and were packed into the column as a stationary phase in HPLC to separate the isomers such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or PAHs. Through tests at different solvent ratios, temperatures, flow rates and column lengths, the liquid crystal stationary phase was proven to be capable of separating the isomers, especially for analytes of planarity and size differences.
