NaOH solution was used to remove the AAO template for the acquisition of high density ordered copper nanowire arrays. Copper nanowires were thermally treated at 250℃,350℃,450℃and 650℃for 12 h in air and compared with the copper film prepared at the same conditions. Copper nanowire heated at 250℃ for 12 h in air totally transformed to cuprous oxide nanowire ,but Cu film heated at 300℃ for 12 h in air changed to cupric oxide film . The reason marked this difference may be attributed to the grain size effect of the copper nanowire which is smaller than a critical grain size (~25nm), hence Cu nanowires predominatly transform Cu2O nanowire of a higher symmetry (FCC). The copper nanowires fabricated from electroplating method is of polycrystalline, even after heating at 250℃, the copper nanowires transfer to polycrystalline Cu2O nanowire . But with increasing annealing temerature to 650℃ , Cu nannowires would alternate to higher oxidation state of CuO nanowire with preferred orientation of (111). The result of PL shows a blue-shift from 590 nm to 450nm of the Cu2O nanowires because of quantum confinement effect , such an effect is not observed in CuO , because of the of the size effect.
