The purposive sampling was conducted at a medical center in Southern Taiwan. Ninety-eight valid questionnaires were collected. The results showed that: 1.exercise activities in the sample were almost divided between pre-contemplation (25.5%), contemplation (2%),preparation(21.4%),action (4.1%),and maintenance (46.9%). 2.the high level of education and past habits of the exercise subjects had higher pros; males who exercise perceived cons more than females. 3.Those whose age was over sixty-five,and who had past exercising habits had maintenaned regular exercises;subjects with regular exerises had used the behavioral processes more than irregular exercises subjects;the processes of change indicated significant positive correlation between the stages of exercises. 4.The perceived pros of exercises, the perceived cons of exercises, and the exercising self-efficacy indicated significant positive correlation between the stages of exercises. 5.the related variables explain 41.09% of the stages of exercises, the oxygen therapy support at home, the age, past habits of exercising, and behavioral processes were major predictors for the stages of exercises. The findings of this study provide guidance to clinical practitioners in developing stage-matched interventions, promotional strategies with a variety of program planning, and provide suggestions for research agencies in the future.
