碩士 === 真理大學 === 財經研究所 === 93 === The technology development is one of the key factors in economic growth that researched by Denison （1967）. He researched the factors of economic growth since 1950. The most of scholars believe R&D activities can raise the productivities and techniques. It is the way to keep the competitive advantage. This thesis discusses the determinants of R&D activities. The pooling data is based on 343 companies of Taiwan’s Listed Manufacturing Industry as the sampling data from 1993 to 2002. This thesis adopts the censored regression model – Tobit Model. It is estimated by Maximum Likelihood Estimation. The evidence points out that the determinants of R&D activities, including firm size, the age of company, profit, four-firm concentration ratio, technological opportunity of industry, technology import of industry, export ratio of industry and R&D scale of industry, appear significant effect.
