Nowadays enterprises around the world constantly request their suppliers establish the quality management system (QMS) meeting the international standard. It is both to ensure the consistency of quality and to provide the products and/or services with full customer satisfaction. For the auto part manufacturers, without any exception, they need to establish their own QMS standard under customers’ request. Meanwhile, their next-tier suppliers are also requested to be ISO 9001 certified. The purpose of this research is to probe what are those services that a certification body needs to provide in order to maintain customers and to probe whether next-tier suppliers for auto part manufacturers benefit from maintaining quality management system. This research conducts a survey from 98 ISO/TS 16949 or ISO 9001 certified companies and analyzes statistically. The results can be presented to the certification bodies for reference when determining their policies. The major achievements of this research are as followed: 1.The remarkable selection criteria for an organization to approach a certification body include the certification body protecting customer’s business confidential information, certificated reviewers reviewing the auditors and providing on-job-training, the experienced auditor for certification scope, the certification brand recognition and reputation, fairly and objectively providing the quality system improvements, and the certificate received by the existing and potential customer. 2.It is significant that a certification body should provide value-added services to maintain customers who have been certified, provided that the effectiveness of all certificates is on an equal foot. This even happens to the customers who intend to change their certification bodies. 3.It is intolerable for customers when facing on higher price of certification if being put from the perspective of customer loyalty. 4.It is appropriate for the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to maintain the ISO9001 quality management system in order to achieve the possible quality benefit.
