The reason is that they frequently use negative behaviors to deal with their stressors under the higher stress situation. Many U.S. scholars point out that lots of researches related to health behaviors do not concern about the militayman. There is no data showing maliltaryman risky behaviors or health-promoting lifestyle in Taiwan. The aim of this study was to explore health-promoting lifestyle and related factors in enlisted man of army. This study was a cross-sectional design and all subjects were the enlisted man of army recruited from a military camp in North Taiwan. The data were collected by self-reported questionnarires including demographics, self-rated abilities for health practices scale, perceived health status scale, Laffrey health conception scale, and health-promoting lifestyle profile. There were 591 subjects returned questionnarires (resposdent rate 100%) and 567 subjects were valid questionnarires. Percentage, mean, index of mean score, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s collelation and multiple regression were used for data analysis. The results were summarized as follows: 1) The percentage of subjects participating the health promotion programs was low, and the percentage of smoking (63.3%) and chewing betelnut (26.8%) were high; 2) Among the health-promoting lifestyle profile, the hightest score was the relationship subscale and the lowest score was the responsibility subscale; 3) age, education, experiences of health promotion program, chewing betelnut and smoking would affect health-promoting lifestyle; 4) self-efficacy of health behavior was the most powerful predictor and accounted for 61.1% of the total variance for health-promoting lifestyle. In conclusion, for extending the plan of health-promoting lifestyle, medical personnel in military camp must enhance the cognition and application of self-efficacy of health behavior.
