Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立花蓮師範學院 === 輔導碩士班 === 93 === ABSTRACT The research focuses on the School Adjustment of 4 migrant brides’ children studying at elementary school in Miaoli County. During the 18- month research process, I collected data from the children’s school and family through participant observations, interviews, and document analysis. These data helped me to understand the school adjustment of the children and see how people around them think what kind of student they are. I found that the school adjustment of the children is truly multiple. In spite of the deficient economic conditions, the children accepted full love and care from their parents and teachers and abundant living resources offered by school as well. The findings serve to clarify the stereotyped descriptions of migrant brides’ children documented in some literature. I hope that the study can lead readers to understand migrant brides’ children; educators and the public can accept these children with an open, comprehensible, and respectful heart from a new angle and offer them more support and generosities. The findings are as followed: 一、 Migrant brides’ children have lower self-evaluation. 二、 The race predudice doesn’t directly influence the interaction between the children and their peers. 三、 The interaction between the teachers and migrant brides’ children is tend to be passive. 四、 Social and economic disadvantages are the important factors of the school adjustment of migrant brides’ children. 五、 Active participations of the parents in children’s education can make up the innate disadvantages of migrant brides’ families. 六、 The members of migrant brides’ family are beneficial to the children’s education. 七、 The migrant brides’ family depends on teachers much more than usual family does. 八、 In migrant brides’ family, cultural difference hinders the communication between the teachers and the parents. Based on the findings, several suggestions focusing on the education of migrant brides’ children are proposed.
