While high-end 3D solid-modeling systems have been already broadly applied at large aerospace, consumer products, and automobile companies for years. At the present time, most CAD systems provide only the geometric modeling functions that facilitate drafting operations of mold design, and do not provide mold designers with necessary knowledge to design the molds. The main purpose of this paper is constructing a three dimensional (3D) parametric design system for drawing dies of carbody panel. This system combines the parametric solid model of CAD software and design standard of drawing dies. The structures of this system includes parametric solid model, design standard of drawing die, solid design process of drawing dies, design parameter, and programs. When the initial conditions which include punch open line, blanking size, press information, die height, and dieface are imported, then the system will construct the die structures automatically.
