Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 行銷學系 === 94 === In Taiwan’s urban area, we could not tell the difference between Vietnamese and Taiwanese women from their outlook, but in a fieldwork site in a remote rural village we can tell the difference at first sight. Why are ‘they’ different from ‘us’ and from each other in clothing? Using fieldwork data collected in a rural village and in an urban town, we argue that the different income gap between lower class VN brides and their middle class compatriots and Taiwanese women affects the affordability of consumption in Taiwan society. But in a globalized world, the transnational activities through transnational social networks become a strategy that these VN women can utilize to alleviate their disadvantaged position in Taiwan’s society.
