The period of researching is from Qing dynasty to 1990’, furthermore investigates region over whole Island. There are five chapters in this thesis which the first chapter is an introduction and then the contents cover motivation, objective, method, document reviews and sections arrangement. All of the items represent researching structures of this article. The second chapter recounts the history of Hand Puppet during a period of Qing time. The following sections emerge from this chapter: (1) Investigates the origin of Hand Puppet from Fu-jian Province China and secondly flow into Taiwan at that same term. I will propose my certificates to confirm those disputations. (2) Narrates the development of every branches in Island, also I bring up some aspects. After that, observes the factor and time of Bei-quan branch (a special incidental music sect) to rise abruptly. (3) Make a conclusion for this chapter. The main content of the third chapter is a developmental history during Japanese Colonial Period. There are three sections in this chapter: (1) 1895∼1937, the earlier stage of colonial term, Japanese Government investigate traditional customs and then permit local people to play Taiwanese theater. I will examine the development of Hand Puppet under colonial administering policy during that time. (2) The later stage of 1937∼1945, this section uses six aspects of Japanese Servicing Association (Kouming-houkou-kai), to form Taiwanese Theater Association (TTA), the Hand Puppet troupe regulated by TTA, to establish Theater Volunteer Team (TVT), and the role of TVT to observe the actual feature of Hand Puppet. (3) Make a conclusion for this chapter . The title of the 4th chapter is: “The development of Taiwanese Hand Puppet after World War Ⅱ.”The following three sections that composes this chapter: (1) Divide four aspects to confer the ruling of Act of Troupes Direction (ATD), the restraining Organ of Government, be forced to play communism-opposed drama, and troupes of outdoor performance under Kuomintang (KMT). (2) Use four viewpoints to check circumstances of Hand Puppet, as the rising and decline of troupes of theater performance, the outbreak fashion of Dizzy Drama (Jin Gang Syi), the troupes of outdoor performance and the decline of outdoor players that appraises situation of postwar period. By the way, I hope to build some understanding for these performers. (3) Make a conclusion for this chapter . Do a summary for the final chapter to conclude this article; meanwhile, I will suggest a few measures in order to settle the distress Hand Puppet at present.
