Owing to the diversity and coding gains, space-time codes not only can improve the communication quality but also can achieve high data rate transmission. In this thesis, a full exploration of space-time trellis codes is provided. Firstly, the associated encoding and decoding schemes are introduced. Error rates of space-time trellis codes for transmission over Rayleigh and Rician fading channels are then analyzed. Finally, computer simulations for various transmission conditions are carried out for performance verification.
