Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 人資處應用科學系教學碩士班 === 95 === Abstract This research was to apply STS teaching model with Problem-Solving teaching procedure to the instruction to the part of the Science and Life Technology of the first grader’s life subject, and after 8 weeks of instruction, the researcher investigated the effects on the students’problem-solving capability and their attitudes toward science. “Quasi-experimental research method” was used in this research. The controlled group of 32 pupils was using current materials under the current general instruction, and the experimental group of 33 pupils was using current materials under the instruction method of “STS Instruction Model with Problem-Solving Instruction Process,” and the data were gathered through classroom observation, video taping, classroom journal taking,document collection, questionnaires survey and etc. during the research period. Research tools included “Problem-Solving Test Measurement Table” and “Attitude Toward Science Measurement Table,” and the data were mainly analyzed through Analysis of Covariance, t-test, and “Wilcoxon Symbol Test.” The results of the research were listed below. 1. STS Instruction Model with Problem-Solving Instruction Process can enhance the students’ problem-solving capability. 2. The effects of STS Instruction Model with Problem-Solving Instruction Process on male and female students are the same. 3. STS Instruction Model with Problem-Solving Instruction Process can enhance the upper students’ problem-solving capability. 4. There is no special effects on the students’ “Attitude Toward Science” from STS Instruction Model with Problem-Solving Instruction Process. 5. The effects of STS Instruction Model with Problem-Solving Instruction Process on “Attitude Toward Science” for male students are the same. 6. The effects of STS Instruction Model with Problem-Solving Instruction Process on “Attitude Toward Science” for upper and lower students are the same. In addition, this research found out that most students liked the learning sheet,group discussion, looking up information, finding questions, figuring solution, further preventing problems and etc., and that most students liked curiosity arousing teaching method, and that more than half of the students affirm themselves. Finally, the researcher draws a general concluding statement according to the research results and makes certain suggestion for future teaching and further researches.
