Most of them usually alternately change the workplaces so that the career has a great danger and pressure to their mind situation or family balance. For others, they can’t understand the unique source of working stress with firemen. In general, for everyman, the working characteristics and contents of their jobs can be predicted. However, firemen face the emergency tasks which usually can’t be predicted. It’s full of pressure in their long working time for them. The study collects some theses, journals, publications and clippings about management of pressure and recalls from the literatures and gathers useful material from firemen in Taitung Fire Department. There are fifteen firemen visited for the study and the analytic results are listed as follows: There are many sources of working stress of a fireman. They can be distinguished into four main areas which include working stress that is produced by work itself, personal or family situation, outer environment and inner organization. Most firemen who are visited indicate that the working stress produced by work has more effect to them then other. For adjust to working stress, a fireman must have healthy thought, confront working stress honestly, be cool and composed to handle work, even regard a crisis as a chance to train himself and grow up.
