Criteria which affect the consequence of new process assignment is explored and defined. These criteria are policy, suitability, budget for new machines purchasing, and profit. A systematical method is proposed to evaluate the performance of fabs on the four criteria and to support managerial executives’ decisions of assigning new processes to fabs. Furthermore, the proposed methodology is applied to a case study of a Taiwan semiconductor company. The result shows that the proposed methodology is able to provide effective solutions.
