碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 史地學系研究所 === 96 === The study is based on the concept of POET ecological compound of Duncan and on the time- geography,with Shihye Village,Jhuci Township as the study region.based on the ways of data collection and field-work ,this thesis attempts to explore the interrelationship and the future development among humans, nature, and the society. The findings are as follows: 1.Natural environment and agricultural technology: On the basis of their natural environment─hills and vice-tropical moist climate, Shihye Village mainly live on agriculture despite the characteristic that the concentration of rainfall in summer is unfavorable to the growth of crops. In the aspect of agricultural technology, the irrigation water resources provided by the introduction of electrical pumps of groundwater wells since1970s , cultivation is less affected by rainfall,the fruit cultivation of citrus and Heng Shan pear spring up.Moreover, due to the mechanization of farming tools and the technology of Gao-Jie pear,as a result-to meet the market demand. 2.The features of fruit-farming households：The common labor from family , hire labors to help operating their farmer in necessary. In the process of industrialization and urbanization, young and middle-aged people gradually migrated outward for the convenience of earning more job opportunities,which resulted in the serious aging and shortage of farm labors. In 1990s, farmers was aware of the condition of soil acidification and hardening, so they reduced the volumn of chemical fertilizer. The development of relation between farmers and land in this region tend to be some harmonious. 3.The operation：The minimum learning organization is management in agricultural production ,fruit planters promote their technology and get market information by joining the fruit organizations.The farmers’ association and agricultural improvement station are engaged in counselling from side , provides resources which needs. Now facing the many problems that need to be solved in Shihye Village, such as aging of farmers, shortage of successors, increasing production cost, low market prices, and the damage by blight, disease and climate,households need to consider diversified farming, to actively plan production and marketing strategies, and to obtain non farm income. The fruit industry in Shihye Village , the most distinguished local asset, is an outcome of the long-term interaction between the farmers and the environment, and truthfully reflects the cultural construction developed from the natural and cultural environment along time. The future could be solved by tourism and industrial culture activities, sustainable management of industry and ecology , integration of ‘farmer，s living, industrial production, and orchard ecology, for sustainable business.
