How they think about themselves after theses years? And how they think of the meaning of life? This research discusses the meanings of the senior veterans’ life, their self-concept, and the relationship between meanings of life and self-concept among senior veterans. The researcher will brings out some concrete suggestions that could be referred by government, veterans themselves, and the future research. Subjects were 250 senior veterans living in Tai-tung. The researcher used “senior veterans’ self-concept and life meaning inventory” as instrument to investigate subjects’ attitude toward themselves and life. The results indicate: (1)The average of total self-concept score is low. It could be resulted from isolated living condition and old age. (2) There are remarkable differences in self-concept in the levels of education, the military ranks of the veterans, childlessness or not, economic situation and health condition. (3) There are statistical significant differences in the meaning of life in the levels of education, the military ranks of the veterans, childlessness or not, economic situation and health condition. (4) The relationship between self-concept and the meaning of life is positive and statistical significant, the correlation coefficient ranges from .30 to .60. (5) The findings from depth interview suggests that senior veterans were not interested in talking about meaning of life, they are more concern about things happened in the present. The researcher suggests: (1)to integrate resources of Tai-tung including schools, IV institutes, social workers and hospitals. (2)pay more attentions to senior veterans living alone in remote areas of Tai-tung. (3)to promote more health activities for senior veterans in the communities. none 朱景鵬 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 96 zh-TW |

碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 公共行政研究所 === 96 === Affected by historical events, veterans originated in different areas in China have
living in Taiwan for more than half century. How they think about themselves after
theses years? And how they think of the meaning of life? This research discusses the
meanings of the senior veterans’ life, their self-concept, and the relationship between
meanings of life and self-concept among senior veterans. The researcher will brings
out some concrete suggestions that could be referred by government, veterans
themselves, and the future research.
Subjects were 250 senior veterans living in Tai-tung. The researcher used “senior
veterans’ self-concept and life meaning inventory” as instrument to investigate
subjects’ attitude toward themselves and life. The results indicate:
(1)The average of total self-concept score is low. It could be resulted from
isolated living condition and old age.
(2) There are remarkable differences in self-concept in the levels of education,
the military ranks of the veterans, childlessness or not, economic situation and health
condition.
(3) There are statistical significant differences in the meaning of life in the levels
of education, the military ranks of the veterans, childlessness or not, economic
situation and health condition.
(4) The relationship between self-concept and the meaning of life is positive and
statistical significant, the correlation coefficient ranges from .30 to .60.
(5) The findings from depth interview suggests that senior veterans were not
interested in talking about meaning of life, they are more concern about things
happened in the present.
The researcher suggests: (1)to integrate resources of Tai-tung including schools,
IV
institutes, social workers and hospitals. (2)pay more attentions to senior veterans
living alone in remote areas of Tai-tung. (3)to promote more health activities for
senior veterans in the communities.
