A sample of total 1,509 Southeast Asian immigrants’ families and the contrast local Taiwan families were collected. Data were analyzed through chi-square and, ANOVA. Results were as the following: 1.About Chinese oral communication ability, Southeast Asian female immigrants from the metropolis were better than the ones from non-metropolis.However, their oral communication ability made no differences between their children’s academic achievement. 2. Southeast Asian female immigrant from metropolis or with higher educational level was more willing and also more with chances in teaching children their “mother tongue”. 3. Immigrant families from the metropolis tended to teach their children multi -languages while families from non-metropolis tended to teach bi-languages. The situation was similar to most of the local families. The differences of multi -languages taught at home made no significant difference on children’s academic achievement. 4. When children behaved well, families of “junior high school or below” educational level, or the non- metropolis residents gave less compliments to their children. For immigrants ’ children, the more they received compliments from fathers, the higher academic achievement was. As for the local children, similar phenomena happened between their mothers ’ compliments and their academic achievement.
