This thesis also used the M14 rifle as the example to improve its trigger mechanism. This systemic method including the System Functional Analysis to define the functions for the components of trigger mechanism, the strategy edition to evaluate the value of the components for selection and deletion the lower value components to simplify the trigger mechanism, and the technical parameters, the invention principle, and the contradictory matrix of the TRIZ to design the trigger mechanism. Finally, this thesis used the CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to create the 3D modeling of parts and simulation of the trigger mechanism to prove its feasibility. After applied this systematic method to the M14 trigger mechanism, not only the complex rotational hammer mechanism originally designed has changed to the much simple translation mechanism, but fewer components has made. The newly designed trigger mechanism can do all the functions of original design; it can be also replace the original trigger mechanism to install into M14 rifles.
