This study also involved the relationships between the English teaching using multiple intelligences by elementary school teachers and the teaching effectiveness. The participants of the study were selected from the teachers who are teaching English at elementary schools in Taichung City. The instrument of this study was a self-made “Questionnaire of the Effectiveness of English Teaching Using Multiple Intelligences by Elementary School Teachers in Taichung City.” The questionnaires were sent to 291 teachers, and 273 ones returned. There were 252 valid respondents and the usable questionnaire rate was up to 92%. The data collection was conducted by computer software SPSS version 12.0. The statistic methods used were t-test, one-way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) and Pearson cross-product correlation. The conclusions of this study were drawn as follows: 1. The points of English teaching using multiple intelligences by elementary school teachers in Taichung City are above the average. “intrapersonal intelligence” has the highest score. 2. There is a positive correlation about “job title and school scale” on elementary school teachers’ using multiple intelligences in English teaching. Among the variables, the perception of “holding a concurrent post between teacher and administration, large school-size teachers” are higher. But no significant difference existed among “gender, age and education background.” 3. The points of the teaching effectiveness in Taichung City are above the average. “Musical intelligence” has the highest score. 4. In a word, English teaching using multiple intelligences by elementary school teachers and the teaching effectiveness have a positive correlation. In other words, the more English teaching using multiple intelligences the elementary school teachers do, the more teaching effectiveness they get. Finally, some suggestions were made for educational administrational organizations, elementary schools, compilation of English textbooks, teachers and future studies.
