Qualitative in-depth interviews were used to understand the underlying implications of donation box placements, to comprehend the individual''s internal motivations and the effect of external environmental factors on the store manager’s decisions of placing donation boxes, as well as associating experiences, thoughts and advices after placing the donation boxes. Finally, this research interviewed a total number of seven store managers. Research results indicated that the internal consideration motivations of these store managers included: 1) low costs of donation box placement, and 2) relatively high reward, such as aiding others, charity deeds and accumulation of merits. Other external consideration factors emphasized the reputation and credit of the organization. This low costs, high reward exchange circumstance constructed and the trust toward organizations were the main reasons of why they were willing to place donation boxes. Once the store becomes one of the organization''s “donation box stores”, these stores further developed numerous enriched implications, including: 1) cumulating the ability to help others, 2) becoming one of the organization''s branches, 3) connecting point amongst the organization, the store and the customers, 4) gatekeeping on the charity deeds of donation boxes, and 5) achieving self accomplishment and the behavior of helping others. At the same time, these “donation box stores” begin to offer suggestions and expectations to these organizations, such as to design appropriate donation boxes, to actively invite stores to participate in activities, to provide other collaborating opportunities, and to efficient the utilization of other store resources. Finally, according to the results of this study, the researcher offers several suggestions for social welfare agencies in the promotion of donation boxes in formulating strategies for long-term management of donation box stores, follow-up services and collaborating plans, and references for future contact and discussion between the social welfare agencies and stores in the continuing promotion of donation boxes.
