The subjects were sampled from 15 schools. The subjects were consisted of 286 only child students and 347 non-only child students. Four questionnaires were used: the Scale of Parental Support, the Scale of Adolescent Career Self-Efficacy, Extended Objective Measurement of Ego Identity Status-2 and Career Decision Scale.The data were analyzed by applying descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, Pearson’s correlation analysis, one-way multivariate analysis of variance, canonical correlation analysis and structural equation modeling. The conclusions of this study were summarized as follow: 1. Only child and non-only child in senior high and vocational schools perceived more positive parental support, including physical affection, praise and communication ; they also perceived less negative parental support, including punishment and criticism. 2. Career self-efficacy of only child and non-only child in senior high and vocational schools are moderately high. 3. Ego Identity of only child and non-only child in senior high and vocational schools are moderately low. Children scored higher points in diffusion status than identity achievement status. They scored higher points in identity achievement status than foreclosure status. 4. Career decision-making of only child and non-only child in senior high and vocational schools are moderate. 5. Only child scored higher points in physical affection and praise of perceived parental support, career self-efficacy and career decision-making than non-only child. There were correlations among perceived parental support, career self-efficacy, ego identity and career decision-making of only child in senior high and vocational schools. 6. There is no significant difference on ego identity status of only child and non-only child in senior high and vocational schools. 7. Career self-efficacy and ego identity of only child in senior high and vocational schools were the mediator between perceived parental support and career decision-making. Suggestions for teaching and further studies were proposed based on this research finding.
