碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 應用日語所 === 97 === Abstract The main Purpose of Free Trade Agreement aims to promote the functional trade corporation and economic development between member countries. As one of the Asian four small dragons, Taiwan’s economy develops very fast and became the member of WTO on January 1, 2002. Her GDP reached $ 365.3 billion in 2007. Because her economic strength can’t be ignored, it is impossible for Taiwan to keep out of the world trend of regional economic integration. Therefore, Taiwan should actively promote bilateral free trade agreement project. Taiwan and Japan are very close geologically and dependant each other economically. If Taiwan and Japan can sign FTA, both countries will not only help and benefit each other mutually in economy but also push up both side’s political and economic status. How to eliminate difficulties and sign FTA with Japan is the important issue of the country’s political and economic development. This study is going to focus on the comparison of present political and economic situation of Taiwan and Japan. According to objective study and analysis, I address two concrete conclusions. 1. Taiwan has always been dependent upon international trade. Faci-ng the rising of global trade agreements and the deepening of Asian economic corporation, Taiwan should seek the way of part-icipating in Asia- Pacific free trade system to secure the countr-y’s benefit. Otherwise, the international political and economic is-olation from Taiwan would be stood out and that would impactTaiwan’s future international status and economic development. 2. Taiwan and Japan’s economy existed compliment relations, both countries are important trade partners as well. The Taiwan-JapanFTA can not only enhance both countries’ relations and develop-ment but also promote the vitality of East Asia economy. The FTA between Taiwan and Japan should link the aspects of East A-sia regional economy and move forward. However, there are ma-ny economic and trade problems such as tariff, agriculture prod-uct, intellectual property right etc. between Taiwan and Japan to be solved. We should find out the problems and eliminate the o-bstacles. We should also bring up effective solving methods for t-he pressure from Mainland China to let Taiwan and Japan nego-tiate and sign the mutual beneficial FTA. The text divides into 6 chapters. The first chapter is a preface,comprising the motive and goal of the study, advancing study, st-udy method, the construction of this thesis, wording explanationetc. Chapter two discusses the meaning of FTA, the achievement and variation of FTA from different countries. Chapter three foc-uses on the importance of Taiwan-Japan FTA from Taiwan side.Chapter four discu-sses the importance of Taiwan-Japan FTA fro-m Japanese side. C-hapter five addresses the problems of signin-g FTA between Taiwan and Japan. Chapter six is going to com-pile the results of analysis and presents suggestions according to the study.
