Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 統計學系 === 97 === Electronic map (E-map) is important to support way finding, especially for finding unfamiliar routes. In this paper the user-centered usability of interactive E-map will be evaluated. The first stage of this study, both the usability of Yahoo Maps ,Google Maps and Google satellite map is current Web pages interfaces are evaluated using the questionnaire for user interface satisfaction (QUIS). The preference-based results indicate that users prefer E-map to satellite map. In addition, not all the icons used in the E-map can be perfectly identified. There are significant difference between gender and icon recognition. We acquired the participant’s preference and extract the improvement on E-map. The second stage of the study, we find out the design factors in orthogonal array experiment. Then the usability of interactive E-map is evaluated using (215) orthogonal array. The effects of design factor including image size (Large—486×326 pixels, Small --231×331 pixels), type(E-map/satellite), direction keys(Yes/No), and hierarchical zoom function(Yes/No) for interactive maps would be investigated. Response variables including visual performance, visual fatigue, user interface satisfaction, self-report of direction (SOD) and task workload would be collected. The result indicate that (1)the main effect of map type on wayfinding task is statistically significant;(2)None of the four factors on direction task is statistically significant;(3) the main effect of map type, direction keys and the interaction of map type and direction keys, the interaction of map type and size, and the interaction of size and direction keys on distance task are statistically significant;(4)The design of satellite map and direction keys will cause the visual fatigue;(5) The result of SOD shows that it has negative correlation between response time of searching specific locations and SOD. (6)The result of NASATLX task load rating scale is that frustration, mental workload and effort are considered the most important variables. The results from subjective preference are showed that users prefer E-map to satellite map. But from the result of orthogonal array experiment , it showed the performance of using satellite map is better than using E-map.
