A quasi-experiment research was conducted with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent-group design. They were divided into two groups, the experimental group of 30 people and the control group of 31 people. The experimental group was treated with “ The Picture Books Instruction for six weeks, these were two periods each week. The control group was not given any treatment. Also, a follow-up assessment to realize the persistent influence of The Picture Books Instruction on the children’s Gender-Roles Attitudes and Self-Protection Consciousness was later on conducted after four weeks of the experimental treatments. The methods of data analysis include descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance. The main findings of this study are shown as below:1. The immediate efficacy of the “The Picture Books Instruction ” to the second- grade elementary students:After accepting the treatments, the experiment group obtains significantly higher scores in the posttest of “Gender-Role Attitude Scale” and “Self-Protection Consciousness Scale ” than the control group. 2. The long-term efficacy of the “The Picture Books Instruction ” to the second - grade elementary students:In the follow- up assessment conducted four weeks later after “The Picture Books Instruction ”, the experiment group obtains significantly higher scores in “Gender-Role Attitude Scale” and “Self-Protection Consciousness Scale ” than the control group. 3. After accepting the treatments, the girl students of the experiment group shows better attitudes of gender roles and self-protection consciousness than the boy students of the experiment group.
