Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 教育心理與諮商研究所 === 98 === Abstract The major purposes of the research were to develop a Satir Model Parenting Growth Group for single parents and to examine the effectiveness of this model. Participants were 14 single parents who have adolescent children in junior high schools. They were purposive sampled and assigned into the experiment group and the control group. Single parents in the experiment group were arranged to attend three sessions of parenting growth group, six hours a day, totally 18 hours for two continuous weekends. The control group received the same treatment after the study. In quantitative research, the data was analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney U test. In qualitative research, the researcher interviewed the participants to explore what they gained in the process and effectiveness of “Satir Model Parenting Growth Group”. The results indicated that: Satir Model Parenting Growth Group didn’t show significant differences among the four dependent variables. However, the participants reported six themes they gained in the process of the parenting group. Those were “learning from the group-course,” “learning from the group-members,” ”learning from the group-leader,” “application of the communication after group,” “feeling of group-arrangement,” and “the feedback of the children”. Moreover, the effectiveness of the parenting group were “self-awareness of inner experience,” “use of oneself to enhance the relationship,” ”good management of parent-child relationship,” “application of the communication in daily life,” “expansion of self-knowledge by parenting education,” and “the affirmation of the group experience”. The implication of the findings and further suggestions were also addressed. Key words: Satir Model, Parenting Growth Group, single parent
