碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 體育學系碩士班 === 98 === The purpose of this study was to verify the validation of Athletic Peer Leadership Inventory (APLI). The participants were 892 collegiate student athletes, 485 males and 407 females from varsity or department teams, with average age 20.27 ± 1.46 years. The results of confirmatory factor analyses showed that four-factor oblique model was the best model to represent the peer leadership of collegiate athletes in Taiwan sport settings. The four dimensions of athletic peer leaders’ behaviors contained task leadership, social leadership, external leadership, and personal talent. The athletes perceived salient peer leader(s) existing in their teams experienced higher intensity of all four peer leaders’ behaviors than did those athletes who did not perceive any distinct peer leader. Athletic peer leadership explained 15% of the variance in task cohesion, 19% of the variance in social cohesion, and 22% of the variance in team satisfaction. The results provided APLI the evidences of content representation, the convergent and discriminant validity of internal structure, and the convergent and discriminant utility on the relevant external variables. In terms of the findings, discussion and suggestion for practical implication and future research are provided.
