Therefore, location-based services (LBS) are thriving in recent years. There are many location-based services such as fleet management, tracing of stolen vehicles, availability of parking spaces, etc. However, no publication so far has discussed the role of LBS in relation to medical tourism because modern medical tourism is still in its infancy. Medical tourism is a term to describe the rapidly-growing industry of traveling across international borders to obtain health care. Since foreigners are not familiar with the environment of Taiwan, they need a location-based service when they are on a medical tour in Taiwan. This study proposes location-based services combined with medical tourism which applied in Chinshan area that not only can be used to trace patients for nurses but also provides instruction guide for patients. Therefore, patients who are originally afraid of having an accident during the medical tourism can now travel at ease because they can be tracked by nurses or care givers anytime. Chinshan is located in the northeast corner of Taiwan and there are lots of hot springs there, so it is suitable for developing medical tourism.
