It directly serves as the corridor between downtown and suburbs or the main links between local areas. It also avoids road congestion, environmental impact and other traffic related hazards. This system has been increasingly recognized in the world as one of the effective ways to improve the urban traffic problems and environmental protection and to reduce carbon emissions. However, in recent years, due to the global economic downturn, Government's financial constraints start to emerge. Even with increasing difficulties in obtaining land for project construction, Government's determination to promote rail transportation policy continues to grow. Therefore streamlining the size of the stations to a more economical way, mixing the various stations feature space to reduce initial construction costs, and maximizing operational efficiency and urban transport function, mass rapid transit system has become an important topic of the station planning and design. From the life cycle point of view, it is more critical in cumulative effect of energy savings from long-term operation of such system. Authority in domestic projects or consultation company to complete the basic design of the MRT station operations, the frequent references to the Taipei Rapid Transit planning manual requirements and in the case of empirical judgments or comparison of a small number of cases to confirmed that the completion of planning prototype, did not accurately assess the different options the practicality of space planning, based on planning and design phase of the project life cycle has an impact on the overall construction of the crucial role of the funding, which will determine the scale of the station type, building construction decisive stage of the study included a literature review way, according to practical experience to develop viable MRT Stations structure streamlining. Through the concept of value engineering, to establish streamlined program evaluation. Finally, through the Analytic Hierarchy Process to establishing the pattern for streamline the stations structure, in order to optimize the station layout. Also through operating this research pattern and the model established to provide an useful reference in streamlining structures, hence in order to lower construction cost and minimize project schedule.
