Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 課程設計與潛能開發學系 === 99 === The purpose of this study was to explore the aboriginal elementary student’s image of animal gender. Qualitative and quantitative method was adopted in this research. The participants were 68 aboriginal elementary students in east Taiwan. The self-designed instrument named “Image of Animal Gender[IAG]” was adopted in this study. The IAG was developed by systematic literature reviewing and interviewing aboriginal elders. The results showed that: (1) most of aboriginal elementary students thought that they judged the animal gender by their own perceptions rather than physical characteristic such as male were strong and female were week, (2) there were several factors related to the formation of image of animal gender such as individual’s living experience, television programs, internet information, and textbook, (3) the different graders hold different image of animal gender and the upper graders used to judge the animal gender by physical characteristic. In sum, the present study contributes to the field of science education by studying the image of animal gender by aboriginal elementary student. Besides, the formation of image of animal gender by aboriginal elementary student was analyzed too. Based on the research results, several research implications are suggested to the practice of elementary science teaching and learning.
