Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 人資處造形藝術碩士專班 === 99 === Abstract “Life Resembling Games and Games Mirroring Life” is a work created by the author in the period from 2009 to 2011. Behind this work is the author’s keen interest and passion to games having developed early since childhood that drive the author to incorporate the elements of games and creative work into a perfect rendering once the author starts the graduate study. On top of that, the author finds many characteristics are commonly shared by games and life and demonstrate close ties between them; for example a Rubik’s cube game requires the player to bring the cubes with same color to each of the six faces of the cube to claim the game is completed, and the tricks behind the game are very much the same as those for real life - treating and interacting with others properly, nearly “all around”, by paying concern in a harmonious and thorough fashion, before you earn acceptance or even admiration from others. Hence, the author believes “Life Resembling Games and Games Mirroring Life” and the tricks and gist behind this is to be best expressed with a work to create. The present thesis aims to explore life with three series of works, namely “Various Forms of Life”, “Philosophical Thinking of Life” and “Goals of Life”; where firstly “Various Forms of Life” series were created on the basis of the personal experiences about games, the courses of life and what perceived; they voiced the touching feeling of life behind games through transformation in images; secondly “Philosophical Thinking of Life” series were out of the very recognition and realization of the author on the characteristics and rules of each game, the works tried to enable audience realize the meaning behind each game and its correlation with life by the layout of objects shown in the works; and finally “Goals of Life” series could traced back to the imagination in the world of games, through imagination one tries the best efforts to make any dream come true, thus makes something from nothing and turn things seemingly impossible into practically possible. The work as subject in this thesis demonstrated the renderings with symbolic representation technique, and disseminated the meaning of games and re-examining the value of life by exploring the correlation between life and the games with the work created uniquely.
