Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 輪機工程系 === 99 === This study assessed the possibility of establishing Wang-an, Penghu as a low-carbon island with main economic activities related to ecotourism. To maximize energy-use efficiency, this study firstly analyzed and developed low-carbon conditions by strategic analysis tool SWOT. I conducted energy auditing and survey to broadly understand the energy use for different sectors. Furthermore, I used the software HOMER provided by NREL of U.S. DOE to compare the cost and benefit for eight energy system scenarios. Results from this study showed that 15% of energy saving could be attained for the short-term goal and a reduction of 50% (with annual per capita of 2.1 metric tons) in carbon dioxide emission could be met for mid-term goal. In the long run, a low-carbon and sustainable living style will be possible on Wang-an Island. The Wang-an model is expected to be further used as a drive for integrating energy efficiency and renewable energy in other communities with similar economic activities, especially tourism.
