The edge heater is high energy consumption equipment which is used in the hot roll-steel workshop(HRSW) of the china steel corporation(CSC). The purpose of the study is to discuss all the energy saving methods and to obtain an excellent energy saving methodology for the CSC. The method can be employed to the all high energy consumption apparatuses in the produce process. The other intention of the study is to bring up the concept of the energy saving to all the staff of the CSC. The heating mode of the edge heater is a kind of middle frequency equipment. The energy-consumption record of the equipment is difficult to obtain as result of the volt and current variation. Therefore, a statics method is used in the study to overcome the problem. The record of the energy dispatch center of the CSC is used as a data basis. The production record and the energy consumption of the HRSW are employed to compare with the basis. Then, the operation mode and energy consumption of the edge heater can be obtained by analysis the energy compared information.
